The Ethics of Listening: Regarding the pain of war in Colombia

Resumen The objective of this project is to develop an analysis about the political violence in Colombia, from the inquiry by the practices of listening, performed for people that in different forms are in regarding the pain of others. The research, aims to recognize how to build an ethics of listening, picking up the experiences, lessons learned, the mistakes and successes of people who have dedicated part of their lives to hear testimonies, memories, stories and experiences of war and political violence in Colombia. In these lessons we seek to broaden the spectrum of understanding about that a society on the way to the «post-conflict» needs for not «turn a deaf ears» to the more than 50-year history of violence and war.The research is based on a qualitative model of Participatory Action Research in which we will to recognize the accumulated experiences of many people who have known the stories of pain and suffering from the armed conflict in Colombia. Based on this model, the research also pretend to socialize this accumulated knowledge and help to build an ethos of listening that promotes reconciliation through the recognition of others and their wounds.
